Gazprom SC AIT Facility took part in III Forum “The Arctic – the Regions 2025”
Aug 31, 2025
The city of Arkhangelsk hosted the III Forum “The Arctic – the Regions 2025” from July 31st to August 1st, 2025.
This forum is a unique platform for dialogue, sharing experience and creating the effective solutions for the development of the Russian Arctic Zone.
Igor Kadyshev, the Chief Designer – Head of the Design Bureau at Gazprom AIT Facility, LLC delivered a report “Ensuring safety in the Arctic Zone” within a strategic session.Igor Nikolaevich highlighted that the key concepts for space technologies are monitoring, navigation and communication, which together ensure safety in the Arctic Zone.
“The Arctic Zone has its own specifics that are polar night, extreme cold and huge distances. Satellites are often the only data and communication source. Communication in the Arctic Zone can be provided with the help of the existing geostationary systems,” stated the Chief Designer. “However, solving Earth remote sensing (ERS) objectives requires satellites that would monitor, for instance, glaciers and shipping via the Northern Sea Route, as well as observe the infrastructure and borders. The specifics of the Arctic Zone for ERS are revealed in priority of radar satellites (particularly, all-weather) over optical satellites while choosing dedicated frequency bands for glacier monitoring."
The projects for space communication systems and Earth remote sensing are actually developed at the premises of Gazprom AIT Facility, LLC, designed to address these challenges.
The Forum contributed to present the company's expertise and manufacturing capabilities to a general audience, including the representatives of the government, business, science and society, as well as potential partners and customers.
